What is the Pokémon TCG Game?
The Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) is a strategic card game where players build decks of Pokémon, Trainer, and Energy cards. Players compete against one another in exciting battles.
Launched in 1996, the TCG grew alongside the success of Pokémon video games. It has since become a global phenomenon. The game features an ever-growing library of cards, competitive tournaments, and a passionate community of fans.
Pokémon cards are the core of the game. Each card represents a creature from the Pokémon universe. These cards include essential stats like hit points (HP), abilities, and moves. Pokémon are divided into stages: Basic, Stage 1, and Stage 2. Basic Pokémon can be played directly, while Stage 1 and Stage 2 Pokémon evolve from earlier stages.
Energy cards are attached to Pokémon to fuel their attacks and abilities. Energy types include Grass, Fire, Water, Lightning, and others. These types match the Pokémon’s elemental affinities. Managing Energy cards wisely is key to winning battles.

The goal is to knock out the opponent’s Pokémon by reducing their HP to zero. Each knockout earns a Prize card. Players win by collecting six Prize cards or defeating all of the opponent’s Pokémon.
